Eight strands of small, delicate recycled paper beads and matching colored seed beads. Each bead is handrolled, glued and 5 coats of a non-toxic varnish are applied for durability and shine. This signature, light-weight necklace is stunning and will enhance any outfit - dressy or casual. The small beads measure approx. 1/3" length and 1/4" width.

This elegant style was meticulously designed by Hamida Nakiwala.

Hamida Nakiwala is a true example of self-empowerment within her impoverished community.

After five years of hard labor working in a quarry, Hamida became involved with the Namugongo Good Samaritan Project (NGSP*) where she learned the art of making jewelry out of recycled paper beads and valuable business skills. As the market for the crafts has grown through Circle of Hands Uganda's partnership with the initiative, Hamida was able to open up her own restaurant. Hamida's goal is to buy a plot of land and build a home for her family.

With her infectious smile and positive spirit, Hamida is a true example of self-empowerment amidst her impoverished community. She is an inspiration to all future generations.
